Steve Taylor's Cash Cow

One of the creepiest and coolest songs and videos from one of the creepiest and coolest Christian musicians ever. I miss Steve Taylor. He was ahead of his time.

Short Films Blowout!

Many of you have asked me about the videos I posted last week. These were from a series of videos created for use at Westwinds and beyond. The videos were packaged in DVD format under the name Popnovella. We marketed them for a bit under that name. We are trying to clear out our stock.

The DVD originally sold for 70 bucks but we are clearing them out for 20 bucks. There are 6 short films called "Thought Grenades" on the DVD. Each film is under 5 minutes in length and perfect for church or small groups. The DVD also has drag and drop files for use in Media Shout, iPod, etc. Super easy. Help us clear these puppies out and get some good stuff! We want all the DVD's to go away.

Buy one today!

Hey! Let's ask Moses!

Over the past couple of years, I have had an awesome opportunity to talk with some great Hebrew scholars via AskMoses.com.

While prepping for sermons I have, on occasion, sent an email to the folks at AskMoses and asked their opinion. They have given me great insight into the mind of Judaism and their understanding of Torah. I have quoted them many times from the stage.

The people over at AskMoses are fascinating Rabbis and scholars. They have always been very kind and helpful. They know where I am coming from as a Christian and take great care in helping me understand.

I highly recommend chatting with them. I have always approached these fine folks with the respect they deserve. I shutter to think some idiot "Christian" may hear about them and send them "why did you kill Jesus" emails. G*d forbid. If you do visit them, seek to understand. Listen.

They also have some great videos.

The AskMoses.com mission statement from their site is : : :

AskMoses.com provides one-on-one spiritual guidance to people of all backgrounds in a confidential, real-time forum with no required registration or fee. In addition to live counseling, the site offers a vast knowledge base of information on Judaism containing answers to a range of personal, spiritual and practical questions. With more than 100 scholars spanning the globe, AskMoses.com offers its vital services in English, Hebrew, Russian, Spanish and French.
I love the tagline on the statement : : :

"AskMoses.com. Live. One-on-one. 24/6."

24/6. Nice touch.

Good conversation. Helpful. Available. Great beards.

Solomon's Rant

This series we are doing in Ecclesiastes has drawn some controversy. I feel great about it. 98% of our people feel great about it and have flooded us with emails and phone calls. 2% are not so happy and are letting us know through email. I may blog about it sometime when I am not raw.

We are headed in to the second week this weekend and Dave has produced a promo video that we sent out in our Community Email.

I am posting this video for two reasons : : :

1. I think Dave does a great job of communicating our heart for this series we are in entitled, "Smoke and Dust."

2. My desk/studio space is directly behind Dave in the video. Let's play a game of "I Spy." Can you find the following items in the video?

: : : A Cirque du Soleil "Love" H20 bottle
: : : A wine bottle
: : : The Beatles Anthology book
: : : An old copy of "Finale" in the box
: : : A Starbucks mug
: : : A picture of Kasidy (my 8yr-old)
: : : A Canon camera box
: : : My Def Leppard "Vault" CD.

P.S. If you see the CD let me know. I can't find it. I am pretty sure someone heisted it from my desk.

Announcing Popnovella!

As a pastor and an artist, I am always on the lookout for good video footage/films/clips to bolster and augment what we are communicating in our church services. While the arts have had resurgence in recent years in the church, good video resources are still hard to come by—though I am excited that better art is being created all the time!

I started dreaming a few years ago about the kind of company I would like to create to help meet the video media needs of the church. I imagined a different kind of media company—a company that combines great art, moving story, challenging message, powerful imagery, and accessibility. I envisioned a company that the church could always count on for usable video that fits within the framework of a 60-minute weekend service.

I love it when dreams come true.

I am proud to announce the arrival of Popnovella! Popnovella is the home of the Five Minute Thought Grenade. At Popnovella, we believe good stories contain the very essence of what it means to be human and walk with God. We are committed to creating moments where God and story meet. We know your world . . . because we live in it.

Take some time to check it out Popnovella today! If you are a blogger and you enjoy the site, please blog about it. If you know of anyone who might benefit from the site, please email them and tell them about it. I love grass roots advertisement. Help Popnovella go viral!

Tell the story.
