I'm so stoked that the Music Experience studio for the Westwinds kids is almost complete. Finishing touches keep getting added.
The idea of the Music Experience is to give kids a space to learn about worship through music, creativity, poetry, imagination, etc. in an environment where they don't have to worry about being told not to touch something.
Besides the gaming, there is a full stage setup with screen, drums, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, 3 keyboards, congas, bongos, and various other percussion instruments. It is so fun to walk by and hear what is coming out of that room each week as the different age groups rotate through the room (along with the art experience, storytellers experience, and discovery experience).
A few weeks ago, my buddy Kent switched out all the ugly fluorescent lighting and installed the cool stage and spot lighting.
A few weeks before that, we finally got all the gaming set up for the kids so they now have an XBox, a Wii, and a Playstation in the room.
This Saturday, the room aesthetic popped when we installed the instrument display cabinets on the wall. I really want the room to look like a Hard Rock cafe meets Nickelodeon and these cabinets are a great addition. Our friend Craig built the cabinets from a sketch I made and our friend Lance helped me hang them Saturday.
I wish I had a room this cool growing up in church. Dang.
